The Demoman in Team Fortress 2 is a powerful generalist known for area denial, high burst damage, and creative movement options. His playstyle blends both defensive control over space and aggressive offensive pressure.
The Demoman has two main weapons: a Grenade Launcher, which fires explosive grenades that bounce and detonate after a short delay or upon contact with an enemy; and a Stickybomb Launcher, which fires sticky bombs that can be remotely detonated. Stickybombs are ideal for spamming chokepoints (tight corridors) or setting up traps.
While the Grenade Launcher is technically his "primary weapon," the Demoman’s playstyle revolves more around the Stickybomb Launcher. This weapon offers more reliable damage, as the player can choose exactly when to detonate the bombs. It also allows for spamming areas to control space and pressure enemies from a distance.
This makes the Demoman excel at locking down areas, dealing burst damage to quickly eliminate enemies, and setting deadly traps for opponents to walk into.
The Demoman also has a mobility option called “sticky jumping.” Similar to the Soldier’s rocket jumping, the Demoman can sacrifice a significant amount of health to launch himself across the map by detonating a sticky bomb beneath his feet while jumping. However, unlike the Soldier, he cannot perform this maneuver as frequently due to the higher health cost.
